L0954: All-Hazards Position Specific Safety Officer

Description

This course provides local- and state- level emergency responders with a robust understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective Safety Officer (SOFR) on an All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT). These responsibilities fall into two categories:

1) Responding to the incident and the safety needs of the incident

2) Effectively fulfilling the position responsibilities of an SOFR on an AHIMT

This course is an instructor-led training that supports learning through discussion, lecture, and active participation in multiple exercises that provides a realistic, scenario-driven approach to mastering the skills required of a SOFR. Exercises, simulations, discussions, and a final exam enable participants to process and apply their new knowledge.

Target Audience

NIMS ICS All-Hazards training should be completed by personnel who are regularly assigned to Functional, Support, or Unit Leader positions on Type 3 or 4 AHIMTs, or by those persons who desire to seek credentials/certification in those positions.

Similar courses

This five-day course serves as a basic introduction to the activities and processes of a Type 3 All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT), enabling them to be better prepared to support large scale or complex operations in their communities. This course is open to anyone meeting the course prerequisites.
