Oklahoma Youth Preparedness Camp
Description
Building responsible and resilient youth in our weeklong summer camps. It is an overnight camp that teaches team building and life safety skills along with having lots of fun.
The camp is geared to students who want to help their school and family become more prepared for emergency situations.
Students will learn about community action planning and gain basic emergency response skills. At the end of the camp, all participants, including adult chaperones, will get a 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team certificate.
This is a collaborative effort between many organizations, state and local agencies, along with college campuses to ensure a safe and productive environment.
This is also offered at no cost to participant or chaperone.
Some of the hands-on skills that they learn are:
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Fire Safety and Utility Controls
- Light Search and Rescue
- Disaster Preparedness
- CERT Organization (Team Building)
- Disaster Psychology
- Terrorism Awareness
If time allows, we also teach CPR and Stop the Bleed at the camps, which also gives the students 2 more certifications upon completion.
