PER 294: Testing an Emergency Operations Plan in a Rural EOC

Description

PER 294 is a DHS/FEMA-certified, 8-hour, tuition-free, performancelevel
course designed with a proactive approach to testing the
Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs) of rural communities in an
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) environment. EOPs are allhazard
plans developed for use by state and local jurisdictions to
ensure a coordinated and effective response to natural, technological,
or man-made disasters that may occur within an area. It serves as the
“game plan” for those who will be tasked with responding to an incident.
Testing these plans on a routine basis is critical to their effectiveness.
Topics covered will help participants to:
• Articulate the value of exercising an EOP.
• Describe the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program
(HSEEP).
• Prepare an EOC for testing.
• Given a particular scenario, select an exercise type that best meets
a jurisdiction’s requirements.
• Develop an exercise aligned with the HSEEP standards.
• Simulate role of an assigned EOC position
