Swiftwater Rescue Operations 16 HRS

Description

The 16 Hr. Swiftwater Rescue Operations Course prepares the student for basic Swiftwater rescue activities by providing them with the cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills required to safely operate in the Swiftwater rescue environment. This training is designed to meet or exceed NFPA 1006 and 1670. The student needs to be in good physical condition and able to swim unaided with and without a personal flotation device. Day-1 will consist of 1/2 day of classroom and 1/2 in a static water environment. Day-2 will be skills all day in moving water. This includes basic boat operations, shore based and boat based rescues.

Student Equipment

Students will need to bring closed toe shoes (tennis shoes, Swiftwater rescue shoes) , wetsuit or dry suit if needed, sunscreen, gloves suitable for rope work (mechanics gloves, Swiftwater gloves etc.), portable camp chair.
